Liza: Joining the Open-Door sessions were, I think, more than awesome because I think as providers, we’re, well, I see myself isolated because I don’t work with other adults, just little ones. So hearing others struggles and even their positive outcome helped me a lot.

For example, just hearing other providers saying, “This was negative for me.” And some of them were like, “Oh, well, I see a positive that I have a behavior child in my program because it just makes me keep on my toes.” And there’s some that are like, “Oh, for me it’s negative because it makes me run around the house.” But seeing everybody’s different, little challenges, and even their positives throughout the day was rewarding.

We’re doing this for the children, even though they have the little milestones that sometimes, like, “Oh, okay.” Just hearing everybody else like, “Okay, we’re in this together, but at the end of the day, we’re doing it for the children, and we’re here to support each other even though we’re in separate houses and we’re going through the same things.”

But to come to one group at night and talk about what’s going on, what’s bothering us, it’s nice. We don’t feel like, “Here you go, you’re on your own.”
